3: Number of top-10 results in four starts during the 2020-21 PGA Tour season for American Justin Thomas, who headlines the field for the Mayakoba Golf Classic, which begins Thursday in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Thomas, who is No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking, tied for eighth in the U.S. Open, finished T-12 at the CJ Cup at Sherwood, T-2 at the Zozo Championship and then fourth at the Masters. He won twice in 2020, at the Tournament of Champions in early January and the WGC FedEx St. Jude on Aug. 2. Thomas will be paired with Norway’s Viktor Hovland and Chile’s Joaquin Niemann at 7:50 a.m. local time off the 10th tee at El Camaleon Golf Club. They will be playing one group behind the 7:40 a.m. pairing of Abraham Ancer, who at No. 22 is the highest-ranked Mexican in the field, and Americans Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland. The Mayakoba event will be the final tournament in 2020 on the PGA Tour (tee times).
