Symetra Tour's top 5 earn LPGA status, U.S. Women’s Open starts

Slovenia’s Ana Belac tops developmental tour’s 2020 money list as Sweden’s Frida Kinhult surges into top 5 with season-ending title

5: Number of Symetra Tour players who earned promotions to the LPGA for the 2021 season, based on the developmental tour’s season-long standings. The LPGA usually promotes 10 players from its developmental tour but cut the number of exemptions in half this year because of the shortened season amid the global coronavirus pandemic. Slovenia’s Ana Belac led the Symetra Tour in earnings, with $49,081 in nine starts, and will join Spain’s Fatima Fernandez Cano, American Kim Kaufman, Sweden’s Frida Kinhult and American Janie Jackson as LPGA rookies next year. Kinhult, a Symetra Tour rookie who played college golf at Florida State, surged into the top five with a four-stroke victory and $26,250 payday Friday at the Symetra Tour Championship in Davidson, N.C. (scores). The five Symetra Tour graduates also earned exemptions into the field for the U.S. Women’s Open, to be played Dec. 10-13 at Champions Golf Club in Houston.
