With Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Open this week on the Mediterranean island, the tour marks a milestone since its 1972 debut
50: Number of nations that the European Tour will have visited since its founding in 1972 when the Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Open begins play Thursday in Paphos, Cyprus (tee times). The inaugural €1 million (about $1.18 million) tournament will be the first of two consecutive events at the Mediterranean island resort on the European Tour’s revised 2019-20 schedule. The Aphrodite Hills resort, which opened in 2002, sits on the southwest corner of the island, along the Mediterranean Sea, and is named after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty.
