Patrick Cantlay returns to top 10 in world ranking

With his victory at the PGA Tour’s Zozo Championship, the American improves to No. 9 in the Official World Golf Ranking

9: Position in the Official World Golf Ranking for American Patrick Cantlay, who improved five spots Monday after his victory a day earlier at the PGA Tour’s Zozo Championship in his native California. Cantlay, 28, a three-time winner on the PGA Tour, was ranked as high as No. 6 in late 2019 and early 2020. The top eight players remained unchanged, led by No. 1 Dustin Johnson, who stayed atop the world order for a 10th consecutive week, and followed by Zozo co-runners-up Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas, respectively. England’s Ross McGowan, who won the European Tour’s Italian Open, jumped to No. 242 from 560th. McGowan had been ranked as high as No. 63 in 2009, when he won his only other European Tour title.
