Englishwoman, a 6-time winner on the Ladies European Tour, posts a 2-stroke victory at the ShopRite LPGA Classic
1: Number of career victories on the LPGA Tour for England’s Mel Reid, who broke through Sunday at the ShopRite LPGA Classic on Sunday in Galloway, N.J. Reid, the 54-hole leader, shot 4-under 67 at Seaview Hotel's Bay Course for a tournament-record 19-under 284 total and two-stroke victory on the Jersey Shore. American Jennifer Kupcho birdied her last two holes to shoot 68 and finish runner-up at 17-under 267, followed by American Jennifer Song (69) at 16-under 268. Reid came into the tournament with some momentum, having finished T-5 (Cambia Portland Classic) and T-7 (ANA Inspiration) in her two most recent starts. Reid, 33, is a six-time winner on the Ladies European Tour and three-time Solheim Cup player for Europe, but she had gone 3½ years since her most recent victory. She earned $195,000 from the $1.3 million purse. Perhaps her most notable triumph came in June 2012 in Prague, Czech Republic, where she won on the LET just one month after her mother was killed in an automobile accident in Germany while traveling to see her daughter compete (scores).
