On her 33rd birthday, English golfer shoots bogey-free 65 for a 2-stroke lead entering final round of LPGA’s Cambia Portland Classic
33: Age, in years, of England’s Mel Reid, who surged into the lead at the LPGA’s Cambia Portland Classic on Saturday, her birthday. She shot a bogey-free 7-under 65 at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Ore., to open a two-stroke edge at 12-under 132 entering Sunday’s final round. Reid, a six-time winner on the Ladies European Tour, is looking for her first victory on the LPGA. Australia’s Hannah Green, who held a share of the first-round lead, shot 68 for solo second at 10-under 134. American Amy Olson (68) shared third with South Korean Amy Yang (66) at 9-under 135. The Portland event was shortened to three days and 54 holes when Thursday’s schedule play was canceled because of the bad air caused by wildfires in the Pacific Northwest (scores).
