With 6-under 66s, the Aussie and the American pace a Portland event reduced to 3 days because of bad air in the Pacific Northwest
66: First-round scores for Australian Hannah Green and American Cydney Clanton, who shared the lead at 6 under Thursday in the LPGA’s Cambia Portland Classic in Portland, Ore. Green, the defending champion, had played bogey-free golf until the final hole at Columbia Edgewater Country Club, where she dropped a shot to fall to 6 under. Clanton rallied from an early bogey to make seven birdies on an otherwise clean card. Green, 23, is seeking her third victory on the LPGA; Clanton’s lone title was last year in a team event, with Jasmine Suwannapura at the Great Lakes Bay Invitational. American Amy Olson was among four players tied for third at 67 before play was suspended because of darkness. The Portland event was shortened to three days and 54 holes when Thursday’s scheduled play was canceled because of the bad air caused by wildfires in the Pacific Northwest (scores).
