8: Number of top-10-ranked players who will compete in this week’s ANA Inspiration, the LPGA’s second major championship of the season. No. 1 Jin Young Ko, who won the 2019 ANA Inspiration, remains home in South Korea because of travel restrictions relating to the global coronavirus pandemic. American Danielle Kang, who is No. 2 in the Rolex Rankings and won the first two events this year after the season restart in late July, will be the highest-ranked player in the 106-woman field. Play in the 72-hole, $3.1 million event begins Thursday at Mission Hills Country Club’s Dinah Shore Tournament Course in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Because of the temperatures forecast at 105-115 this week, the LPGA will allow caddies to take carts. “We are very conscious of the high heat,” Heather Daly-Donofrio, the LPGA’s chief tour operations officer, wrote in a memo to players and caddies. Players must walk during tournament rounds.
