American John Catlin, among only 5 players to break par, shares lead in the windy Andalucia Masters at the former Ryder Cup site
5: Number of players in the 132-man field who broke par Thursday in the first round of the European Tour’s Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters in Sotogrande, Spain. American John Catlin shared the lead with local favorite Jorge Campillo of Spain, Guido Migliozzi of Italy and Connor Syme of Scotland at 2-under 69 at Valderrama Golf Club. All played in the morning, before the winds kicked up and toughened the course, a longtime European Tour host and scene of Europe’s victory in the 1997 Ryder Cup. Spain’s Pep Angles, who shot 70, was the only other player to break par (scores).
