After starting year as Monday qualifier, American erases 5-stroke deficit with 7-under 65 to win Korn Ferry Tour Championship

5: Number of strokes by which American Brandon Wu trailed entering the final round before he shot a bogey-free 7-under 65 on Sunday to win the Korn Ferry Tour Championship in Newburgh, Ind. Wu, 23, finished at 18-under 270 at Victoria National Golf Club, one stroke ahead of 54-hole leader Greyson Sigg, who shot 71 for a 271 total. Americans Vince India (68), Seth Reeves (70) and Dan McCarthy (71) tied for third at 16-under 272. With the victory, Wu earned a berth in the U.S. Open plus spots in opposite-field events on the PGA Tour in the 2020-21 season. Wu, who was making only the sixth start of the season on the developmental tour and eighth of his career, began the year having to Monday qualify. “Just over a month and a half ago, I was still playing Monday qualifiers and just hoping to get kind of a schedule going,” Wu said. “Yeah, standing here, I think, six, seven weeks later, winner of the Tour Championship, it's just an awesome feeling and quite surreal.” (scores).
