2020 Northern Trust: 4 share lead at PGA Tour’s playoff opener

Americans Harris English, Russell Henley and Kevin Streelman join Australia’s Cameron Davis with 7-under 64s at TPC Boston

4: Number of players tied for the lead Thursday after the first round of the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust, the first of three FedEx Cup playoff events, in Norton, Mass. Americans Harris English, Russell Henley and Kevin Streelman joined Australia’s Cameron Davis in setting the pace with 7-under 64s at TPC Boston. Henley tapped in for eagle on the par-5 18th hole to join English, a former college teammate at Georgia who holed 131 feet 6 inches of putts on the day, in a share of the lead. Davis, a 2019 Korn Ferry Tour graduate, is looking for his first victory on the PGA Tour. Henley (three victories), Streelman (two) and English (two) have won multiple times on Tour but not in a number of years. Tiger Woods shot 3-under 68 and was tied for 30th as he seeks to win a record 83rd career victory. Eighty-four of the 123 players – the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings qualified – broke par. After Sunday’s final round, the top 70 will advance to next week’s BMW Championship before the top 30 qualify for the Tour Championship (scores).
