66: First-round scores for co-leaders Connor Syme and Jordan Smith at the European Tour’ s ISPS Handa Wales Open at Celtic Manor Resort’s Twenty Ten Course in Newport, Wales. Syme, 25, a Scotsman in his second season on the European Tour, tied for third last week in the Celtic Classic on the same Twenty Ten Course, where he finished at 15 under. Smith, 27, of England, also can tap into some good vibes from the previous week, when he tied for 22nd at 10 under. American Kurt Kitayama was among a group of four tied for third at 3-under 68, Sam Horsfield, who has won two of the past three events on the tour, including last week’s Celtic Classic, shot 2-over 73 after he birdied three of his first five holes. Celtic Manor's Twenty Ten Course was the site of Europe's one-point victory in the 2010 Ryder Cup (scores).
