FedEx Cup list isn’t only place where Jim Herman rises

Wyndham Championship winner leaps from No. 318 to 91st in the Official World Golf Ranking

91: Position in the Official World Golf Ranking for American Jim Herman, who surged 227 spots up the world order Monday after he won the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship on Sunday. In claiming his third PGA Tour title, Herman, 42, also improved to 54th in the FedEx Cup standings, earning a spot in the playoffs. The first of the three-tournament series begins Thursday with the Northern Trust at TPC Boston in Norton, Mass. A little more than a year ago, Herman stood No. 1,252 in the world. England’s Sam Horsfield moved to No. 80, an improvement of 53 spots, after he won the European Tour’s Celtic Classic, his second victory in three weeks. The first nine spots in the OWGR remained unchanged, with Spain’s Jon Rahm on top for a second week.
