Englishman caps 9-under 62 with back-nine 28 as he opens 1-stroke lead in 3rd stop on European Tour’s U.K. Swing
28: Score on his inward nine for England’s Andy Sullivan, who shot 9-under 62 on Friday to lead the European Tour’s English Championship in Ware, England. Sullivan rattled off five consecutive birdies, on Nos. 12-16 at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club, as he shot 7-under 28 on the back side to post his best round in nine seasons on the European Tour. The surge left Sullivan at 14-under 128 through 36 holes and with a one-stroke lead. Sullivan, 33, is a three-time winner on the European Tour, all within a 10-month stretch in 2018. England’s Laurie Canter (65) and South Africa’s Dean Burmester (63) were tied for second at 13-under 129. The tournament is the third stop on the six-event U.K. Swing being played in Britain (scores).
