62: First-round score for Spain’s Sebastian Garcia Rodriguez, who opened a two-stroke lead Thursday at the European Tour’s Hero Open in Birmingham, England. Garcia Rodriguez played the four par 5s at Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club in 5 under, including eagles at Nos. 3 and 17. Spaniards held the top three spots after the first round as Pablo Larrazabal and Miguel Angel Jimenez shared second at 8-under 64. Jimenez, a 21-time winner, was making his record 707th start on the European Tour. He walked off the 18th green to a glass of red wine, a silver memento from the tour and congratulations via a video feed from Sam Torrance, whose record Jimenez broke (scores).
