Spaniard to become European Tour’s all-time leader in starts

When play begins Thursday at the Hero Open in England, 56-year-old Miguel Angel Jimenez will be making his 707th tournament appearance, which will set a record on the European Tour

707: Number of career starts on the European Tour for Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez, who will become the all-time leader when he tees off Thursday in the Hero Open in Birmingham, England. He will pass Scotland’s Sam Torrance for the tour’s record number of appearances. Jimenez, 56, has won 21 times on the European Tour, which is tied for 10th all-time – coincidentally, with Torrance. Jimenez will be paired with Italy’s Renato Paratore, who won last week’s Betfred British Masters, and England’s Robert Rock. The Hero Open is the second of six consecutive events in Britain on the tour’s U.K. Swing as part of the revised 2020 schedule (tee times).
