Renato Paratore shoots 5-under 66 for his 2nd consecutive bogey-free round and a 1-stroke lead midway through the European Tour event

Paratore shot 5-under 66 on Thursday to stand at 11-under 131 at Close House Golf Club in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. “I've played a solid two days,” Paratore said, “and I'm very happy.” Paratore, 23, who is ranked 270th in the world, is seeking his second victory on the European Tour. England’s Dale Whitnell (64) and South Africa’s Justin Harding (63) shared second place at 10-under 132. Scotland’s David Law, the first-round leader, shot 69 and shared third place at 9 under (scores).
