Despite bogey on final hole, American shoots 7-under 65 to open 1-stroke lead at Muirfield Village in first of 2 consecutive PGA Tour events at club
65: First-round score for American Collin Morikawa, who led the PGA Tour’s Workday Charity Open on Thursday in Dublin, Ohio. Despite making a bogey on the 18th hole at Muirfield Village Golf Club, his only blemish of the day, Morikawa shot 7 under to open a one-stroke lead. The 23-year-old Morikawa, who is No. 29 in the Official World Golf Ranking, is looking for his second PGA Tour victory. He lost in a playoff to Daniel Berger last month in the season restart at Colonial. Canada’s Adam Hadwin stood second at 66. The inaugural Workday event is the first of two consecutive tournaments at Muirfield Village, the course built by Jack Nicklaus in the suburbs of his boyhood hometown of Columbus (scores).
