Bryson DeChambeau climbs to 7th in world ranking

American moves up 3 spots after winning Rocket Mortgage Classic, his 4th consecutive finish of 8th or better

7: Position in the Official World Golf Ranking for American Bryson DeChambeau, who won the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic on Sunday. DeChambeau, 26, who was No. 10 a week earlier, climbed to within two spots of his career high in the world order with his fourth consecutive finish of eighth or better since the season resumed last month after a three-month suspension during the coronavirus pandemic. DeChambeau reached No. 5 in the world in late 2018 during a stretch in which he won four times worldwide in a 23-week span. The victory in Detroit was the first for DeChambeau on any major professional tour since Jan. 27, 2019, when he won the European Tour’s Omega Dubai Desert Classic. American Will Zalatoris improved 100 spots, to a career-high No. 172, after he won the Korn Ferry Tour’s TPC Colorado Championship. Zalatoris, 23, ended 2019 at No. 672 in the world order but steadily has climbed in the ranking with four consecutive finishes of sixth place or better since the developmental tour restarted its season last month.
