Kevin Kisner, Doc Redman and Scott Stallings shoot 7-under 65s to set pace at Rocket Mortgage Classic as Bryson DeChambeau averages 358.3 yards per drive
65: First-round score for American co-leaders Kevin Kisner, Doc Redman and Scott Stallings on Thursday at the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club. Redman, who was runner-up last year at the Tour’s inaugural visit to Detroit, birdied seven of his last eight holes, including Nos. 15-18, to post a 7-under score as he seeks his first victory. Kisner and Stallings are three-time winners on Tour. American Bryson DeChambeau, the only player to have posted top-10 results in each of the three tournaments since the season restart after the coronavirus suspension, was among a group of seven who were tied for third at 6-under 66. DeChambeau made four bogeys, including at the par-4 18th hole. He led the field in driving distance, at 358.3 yards. Of the 157 starters, 110 players broke par. Cameron Champ, who tested positive June 23 and had three subsequent negative tests in the 72 hours that immediately followed that positive result (24 hours apart), was medically cleared to play on the eve of the tournament. He shot 69 (scores).
