Jorge Campillo wins Qatar Masters in playoff

Spaniard sinks 20-foot birdie putt on 5th extra hole to outlast Scotland’s David Drysdale for his 2nd European Tour title

5: Number of extra holes that Spain’s Jorge Campillo needed to win the European Tour’s Commercial Bank Qatar Masters on Sunday. In the fifth extra trip over the par-4 18th hole at Education City Golf Club in Doha, Qatar, Campillo made a 20-foot birdie putt to edge Scotland’s David Drysdale. They had tied at 13-under 271 after Campillo made a double bogey on the 17th hole, squandering a two-stroke lead. Both players made birdies on the first two replays of the 18th before they matched pars on the next two trips to the 18th. Campillo, 33, who played college golf at Indiana, won his second title on the European Tour. Drysdale, 44, has made 498 starts on the European Tour without a victory (scores).
