German erases 4-stroke deficit to win Champions Tour’s Cologuard Classic and trail all-time tour victory leader Hale Irwin by 4
41: Number of career victories on the Champions Tour for Bernhard Langer, who erased a four-stroke deficit Sunday to win the Cologuard Classic in Tucson, Ariz. Langer, 62, of Germany, trails Hale Irwin, the senior tour’s all-time victory leader, who won 45 times. Langer closed with an 8-under 65 at Omni Tucson National for an 18-under 201 total and two-stroke victory over American Woody Austin. It was the eighth victory for Langer since he turned 60. Langer earned $255,000 and sits atop the senior tour’s all-time earnings list, with $29,168,842. He has won the money title in 10 of the past 12 seasons and leads again this year. Langer, a two-time Masters champion, is a World Golf Hall of Fame member (scores).
