American hits all 18 greens and shoots 8-under 64 to set pace at Coco Beach in Rio Grande
18: Number of greens hit in regulation for American Kyle Stanley, who shot 8-under 64 on Thursday for the first-round lead at the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open. Stanley birdied his first three holes at Coco Beach Golf and Country Club in Rio Grande and then, after shaking off a three-putt bogey at the par-3 eighth, reeled off four in a row on Nos. 9-12. Stanley, 32, leads by two strokes as he seeks his third career victory, and first since 2017. American Josh Teater birdied four of his final six holes to join countrymen Chris Couch and Peter Uihlein, Australia’s Rhein Gibson, Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo and Sweden’s Henrik Norlander in second place at 66. The tournament is being played opposite the WGC Mexico Championship (scores).
