It’s time for rookies to come of age on PGA Tour

With 16 of 21 rookies playing this week's Puerto Rico Open, time could be right for a 1st-year player finally to win in 2019-20 season

18: Number of events in the PGA Tour’s 2019-20 season during which there has not been a rookie winner, the longest such streak to start a season since 2009, when no rookies won all year. At the Puerto Rico Open, which begins Thursday at Coco Beach Golf and Country Club in Rio Grande, 16 of the Tour’s 21-member rookie class are entered. England’s Tom Lewis, at No. 57, is the high-ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking who is entered (tee times).
