Aussie Min Woo Lee claims Vic Open

2nd-year European Tour player prevails as South Korea’s Hee Young Park wins women’s companion event in unique 2-tournament format

1: Number of European Tour victories for Australia’s Min Woo Lee, who won the ISPS Handa Vic Open on Sunday in Barwon Heads, Australia. Lee, 21, in his second year on the tour, shot 4-under 68 for a 19-under 269 total at 13th Beach Golf Links’ Beach Course. Meanwhile, South Korea’s Hee Young Park prevailed on the fourth hole of a sudden-death playoff to win the women’s Vic Open in an innovative format in which men’s and women’s professionals used alternate tee times while playing separate tournaments simultaneously. Lee’s sister Minjee, a two-time winner of the women’s Vic Open who tied for sixth, watched her brother convert his 54-hole lead into victory. It was the third LPGA title for Park, 32, but her first in 6½ years. The AUD$3 million prize fund (about $2 million) was split equally among the men and women (scores: men, women) .
