Canadian shoots bogey-free 8-under 63 at Monterey Peninsula in 1st round of PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
63: First-round score for Canadian Nick Taylor, who led the PGA Tour’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Thursday in Pebble Beach, Calif. Taylor eagled his first hole, the par-5 10th at Monterey Peninsula Country Club’s Shore Course, one of three being used in the first three days, and birdied his final two to cap a flawless 8-under 63. Americans Patrick Cantlay and Chase Seiffert, playing the Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach Golf Links courses, respectively, shared second place at 6-under 66. Play rotates among the three courses through Saturday before the final round moves to Pebble Beach. Taylor, 31, a former No. 1-ranked world amateur who played college golf at Washington, is seeking his second victory on the PGA Tour and first since 2014. Phil Mickelson, a five-time winner at the Pebble Beach tournament, birdied his last three holes to open with a 4-under 68 at Spyglass Hill. Dustin Johnson, who at No. 5 is the highest-ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking to be competing in the event, shot 3-under 69 at Spyglass Hill (scores). The tournament is the fourth of five events on the West Coast Swing of the PGA Tour’s 2019-20 schedule.
