Brett Quigley ends 2-decade winless streak

American wins Champions Tour’s debut in Morocco for 1st title since 2001 on developmental Tour

19: Number of years since American Brett Quigley had won a PGA Tour-sanctioned event before he claimed the Champions Tour’s Morocco Champions title on Saturday. Quigley, 50, won in only his second start on the 50-and-older tour, in the circuit’s inaugural event in the north African nation. He shot 6-under 66 in the final round at Samanah Golf Club in Marrakech for a 15-under 201 total and one-stroke victory. Canadian Stephen Ames, who had led after each of the first two rounds, made six birdies and four bogeys in shooting 2-under 70 to finish runner-up at 14-under 202. Quigley had not won on a major professional tour since taking the 2001 Arkansas Classic on the former Tour. He made 408 winless starts on the PGA Tour, finishing runner-up five times and earning more than $11 million (scores).
