2: Number of times that Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama has won the PGA Tour's Waste Management Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Ariz. Matsuyama claimed the 2016 and 2017 titles. In fact, in six previous starts at TPC Scottsdale, Matsuyama has finished fourth or better five times. His only stumble came in 2018, when he withdrew after a first-round 69, citing an injured left wrist. In 21 rounds career rounds at TPC Scottsdale, Matsuyama has posted an under-par score in all but one of them, a second-round even-par 71 in 2015 en route to a runner-up finish. As if his history at TPC Scottsdale weren’t good enough, Matsuyama also has racked up some top finishes since the fall, with five results of 12th or better in his past six starts worldwide. Matsuyama, 27, a five-time winner on Tour, is No. 24 in the Official World Golf Ranking. First-round play at TPC Scottsdale begins Thursday (tee times).
