Danielle Kang jumps to 2-stroke lead in LPGA opener

American shoots 8-under 63 in season-opening winners-only event

63: First-round score for American Danielle Kang, who led the LPGA’s Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions on Thursday in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Kang, 27, a three-time winner on the LPGA, shot 5-under 29 on the front nine at Four Seasons Resort’s Tranquilo Golf Club en route to an 8-under round and two-stroke lead. Mexico’s Gaby Lopez, South Korea’s Inbee Park and American Angela Stanford shared second place at 65. The tournament features 26 LPGA champions from the past two seasons competing in stroke play (scores) alongside 49 celebrities who are competing in a modified-Stableford format for their own purse (scores).
