PGA Tour begins 5-event West Coast Swing this week

Former Bob Hope tournament marks 60th anniversary in California desert

5: Number of consecutive weeks that the PGA Tour will compete on the West Coast, beginning with this week’s The American Express. Play begins Thursday at PGA West’s Stadium Course in La Quinta, Calif. (tee times). The tournament, which used to bear the late entertainer Bob Hope’s name, dates to 1960 in the California desert. In the following weeks, the Tour will stop in San Diego (Farmers Insurance Open), Scottsdale, Ariz. (Waste Management Phoenix Open), Pebble Beach, Calif. (AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am) and Pacific Palisades, Calif. (Genesis Invitational).
