English teen qualifies for back-to-back European Tour events

Josh Hill wins tournaments to earn starts in the Abu Dhabi and Dubai tournaments next month

15: Age, in years, of Dubai-born English amateur Josh Hill, who has qualified for two consecutive European Tour events next month, Golf.com reported. On Wednesday, Hill won the Abu Dhabi Amateur to earn a spot in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on Jan. 16-19. Two months ago, Hill closed with an 8-under 62 to win the Al Ain Open on the Mena Tour and became the youngest winner of a tournament recognized by the Official World Golf Ranking. At 15 years, 6 months and 27 days, Hill shaved two months off the record set by Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa, who won the 2007 Munsingwear Open KSB Cup on the Japan Golf Tour. For his Al Ain Open victory, Hill earned a spot in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic on Jan. 23-26.
