Inkster opens 2-stroke lead at Senior LPGA

American surges in front with 3-under 69 at French Lick Resort

2: Number of strokes by which American Juli Inkster led the Senior LPGA Championship entering today’s final round in French Lick, Ind. Inkster shot 3-under 69 at the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort for a 3-under 141 total. Inkster, 59, won 31 times on the LPGA, including seven major championships. Americans Jean Bartholomew (70) and Moira Dunn-Bohls (73) were tied with England’s Trish Johnson (71), the inaugural winner of the Senior LPGA in 2017, for second place at 1-under 143 (scores/tee times).

4: Number of consecutive tournaments that the LPGA will play in Asia, beginning with this week’s Buick LPGA Shanghai at Qizhong Garden Golf Club in Shanghai. The 81-woman, 72-hole, no-cut event will feature South Korea’s Jin Young Ko, who is No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings, paired with former world No. 1 Shanshan Feng of China and American Danielle Kang, the defending champion (tee times). Last week, Ko won the Hite Jinro Championship, which is considered a major title on the Korean LPGA. The LPGA’s four-tournament Asia Swing will lead into the CME Group Tour Championship on Nov. 21-24 in Naples, Fla., the final event on the 2019 schedule.

16: Number of South Koreans who are entered in the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges, which begins Thursday at Nine Bridges on Jeju Island. The CJ Cup will be the first of three consecutive events in Asia on the PGA Tour’s 2019-20 schedule. Foremost among the home favorites will be Sungjae Im, the Tour’s reigning rookie of the year who stands a career-high No. 44 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Im, 21, enters the event after having won the Korean Tour’s Genesis Championship last week. Last month, he finished runner-up in the PGA Tour’s Sanderson Farms Championship, his highest finish in 40 career starts.
