Champion uses UTx Black on 13 full-swing clubs, grip maker says
(SAN DIEGO, CA) – Lamkin Grips announces its popular UTx grips were used by the winner of the PGA Tour’s Safeway Open, contested this past weekend at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, Calif.
The 24-year-old champion showcased prodigious distance throughout the event, including a 369-yard drive on the 18th hole that setup a dramatic birdie to secure a one-shot victory. The win marks his second PGA Tour title in just 33 starts, a feat only 21 players in history have accomplished. A long-time Lamkin user, he relied on the UTx Black model on each of his 13 full-swing clubs, as it’s unique Tri-Layer technology provides exceptional traction and comfort in all playing conditions.
“When you can create as much torque and speed as this young superstar it becomes crucial to find a grip that gives you the confidence to really go after it and play to your strength,” says Bob Lamkin, CEO of Lamkin Grips. “Watching him attack this golf course was incredibly impressive, not only because of his length off the tee, but great touch all around. It was an important and emotional victory for him and we look forward to helping him find the winner’s circle again.”
The performance comes just one week after another Lamkin user won the PGA Tour Champions’ Sanford International. A large and growing number of Tour players around the world, as well as top amateurs, rely on Lamkin grips to maximize their on-course potential.
UTx grips blend three unique materials to create an excellent feeling and performing grip. The softer ACE foundation promotes comfort, while a firmer outer layer provides superior torsion control and vibration dampening. The full-cord fabric weave on the surface wicks moisture and increases grip traction, making UTx ideal in humid and wet conditions. It promotes light grip pressure for longer and more consistent shots.
