OMEGA is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing which took place on July 20, 1969. OMEGA has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with NASA and the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional is the first and only watch to be worn in space and also the only watch to visit the moon during the Apollo 11 mission.

To celebrate this important milestone, OMEGA will feature two astronauts dressed in golden space suits who will greet spectators as they enter The Championship Shops. Spectators are encouraged to take selfies with the golden astronauts. In the center of The Championship Shops’ OMEGA Boutique, a lunar rover replica sits on a façade resembling the moon for fans to sit in and take photos.

Spectators can view and purchase items at the OMEGA Boutique, which will feature the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Golf Collection.

The OMEGA Speedmaster Professional has a unique place in the history of space exploration as the only piece of equipment used in all of NASA’s piloted space missions from Gemini to the current International Space Station program. When Buzz Aldrin stepped on the lunar surface in 1969, he was wearing an OMEGA Speedmaster Professional, the chronograph that has been known as the Moonwatch ever since.

ABOUT THE OMEGA SEAMASTER AQUA TERRA GOLF COLLECTION
The global game has served as inspiration for many of OMEGA’s finest timepieces, including the Seamaster Aqua Terra Golf collection. They feature horizontal teak pattern dials and NATO straps to keep the watch firmly on the wrist through the golf swings. There are two eye-catching dial/strap combinations to choose from: a sunbrushed black dial matched with green and black striped NATO strap and a silvery dial matched with black and orange striped NATO strap.

Both have symmetrical cases crafted from stainless steel and a wave-edged design on the caseback. Other common features include a date window at six o’clock, and hands and indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova. On each watch, the 15, 30, 45 and 60 on the minute track matches the color of the strap attached, as does the seconds hand and Seamaster logo. Precision is a given, even on those days when your golf swing is a little off. Powered by the OMEGA Master Chronometer calibre 8900, both watches are certified at the industry’s highest level by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
