A Grammy-take on the West Michigan Golf Show
(Grand Rapids, Mich.) The 31st West Michigan Golf Show in Grand Rapids, opening Friday at DeVos Place, precedes another premier event—the Grammy awards on Sunday night.
Research shows millennials love to play golf while listening to their favorite music and artists. So let’s take a look—with a tongue in cheek—at the Grammy-nominated songs and artists from a Golf Show perspective:
“Shallow”—This record of the year nominee, heard in the hit movie A Star is Born, is also a fitting tune for Golf Show headliner Chris O’Connell on the Applied Imaging Stage who works with students having a steep or a shallow swing path. “The key is making it work at impact,” says O’Connell, Matt Kuchar’s teacher since 2006.
Margo Price—this best new artist nominee is a perfect spokesperson for the Golf Show’s affordable pricing: Tickets are $10 online for adults and $12 at the door. Juniors 14 & under are FREE all weekend.
“Reputation”—Taylor Swift’s album nominee is synonymous with the Golf Show, known for its outstanding reputation for fun and interactive exhibits including a fully landscaped par-3, the Treetops Par-3 Challenge.
“Girls Like You”—Maroon Five’s big hit is a good way to highlight Friday’s Ladies Day at the Golf Show where the first 500 ladies receive a special gift.
“Feels Like Summer”—This R & B nominee is what patrons will be saying as they hit shots inside the huge practice net and receive free tips from area PGA pros.
“Golden Hour”— This country hit by Kacey Musgraves reminds time-strapped patrons that the Twilight Adult rate is $8 at the door the last two hours of the show each day.
“By the Way, I Forgive You”— Brandi Carlile’s nominated album sums up what many kind spouses will say when learning their mate is heading back to the Golf Show a second or third time! New this year: Admission price is good for the entire run of the show with wristbands given out at the show.
“Building Blocks”—Tim Kubart’s best children’s album nominee is an apt description of all the junior activities including taking a swing at Golfzilla and GolfGator, large inflatable targets; clinics from The First Tee of West Michigan; and miniature golf.
“You Will Win”—Taking a cue from this nominated Gospel song, your inner voice will be whispering this as you try your luck at the $10,000 Long Putt Contest.
“Rats”—No, not the Grammy-nominated Rock song by Ghost but what many will be muttering if they miss the 31st West Michigan Golf Show this Friday through Sunday at DeVos Place.
