On The ModGolf Podcast, host Colin Weston explores the future of golf through conversations with the visionaries and influencers who are shaking up the sport.

For the latest episode, Colin traveled to Washington D.C. to participate in the 11th annual National Golf Day on April 25.  There, he revealed stories about golf innovation as told by the game's top influencers, entrepreneurs and disruptors about their vision to re-imagine, transform and grow the sport we love.

World Golf Foundation CEO Steve Mona was among the hundreds of participants with messages for Members of Congress.  Through industry advocacy coalition WE ARE GOLF, Mona –along with the GCSAA, NGCOA, USGA, PGA and golf’s other leading organizations – enlightened our nation’s lawmakers about the economic, environmental and social impact and sustainability golf has on American society.  Several legislative items to benefit many facets and people of the golf industry were on the agenda.

ModGolf Podcast host Colin Weston was invited by WE ARE GOLF to cover the three-day event. In addition to Mona, he captured insights and engaging conversations from golf industry influencers such acclaimed golf instructor Michael Breed, Women’s Golf Day Founder Elisa Gaudet and Buffalo.Agency Founder and Managing Director Rich Katz.

The episode coincides with the recent release of a WE ARE GOLF study that shows golf drove $84.1 billion to the American economy in 2016, a 22% rise from $68.8B in the 2011 report.  The industry supported $191.9B in total annual activity, including 1.89 million jobs and $58.7B in wages and benefits.  Demonstrating golfers’ and businesses’ commitments to charity, $3.94B was raised in 2016 through tournaments and other activities.
