Elmsford, New York (November 30, 2017) – With the golf season drawing to a close, Knollwood Country Club is celebrating a successful and exciting 2017. The prominent Elmsford, New York club recently hosted the Hope & Heroes Fundraising Dinner for the Columbia University Medical Center and presented a check for $85,000 for research and care of pediatric cancer and blood disorders.

“We are thankful for and celebrate the wonderful year we had at Knollwood and look forward to an even better 2018,” said Greg Kinney, general manager, Knollwood Country Club. “To top off our great year, our members stepped up and helped raise $85,000 for the good work being done at the Columbia University Medical Center.”

The 2017 golf season began in April with Knollwood unveiling an extensive course restoration. The restoration of the celebrated A.W. Tillinghast, Seth Raynor and Charles Banks-designed course was overseen by Ontario, Canada-based golf course architect Ian Andrew. The restoration was well-received by members and guests as it took the design concepts of Raynor and Banks and adapted them to the modern game.

The 123 year-old club also witnessed many firsts in 2017, including a new public website and the debut of a three-part film series which profiled the “Knollwood Spirit,” a few of the club’s famous golf families and four generations of the Adams family.

In addition to playing more than 14,000 rounds of golf at Knollwood in 2017, members also enjoyed 100-plus rounds at other Troon-managed properties through the Troon Privé Privilege Program and the Troon Advantage Program. Through these two programs, members received reciprocal access to 75 other private clubs in the Troon Privé portfolio and had the option to receive up to 50 percent off at nearly 200 Troon Golf-managed resort and daily fee facilities around the world.

“Based on the results of recent Member Satisfaction Survey, it is evident our members are excited about the future of this historic club, as more than 91 percent are pleased with their member experience,” added Kinney.

About Knollwood Country Club

Knollwood Country Club is located in renowned Westchester County. The 18-hole golf course was completed in 1894, making it the oldest private club still in its original location in the United States. Knollwood was also one of the first 15 clubs to join the USGA and iconic golfers frequented the club, including Francis Ouimet and Bobby Jones. The original golf course was designed by Lawrence Van Etten. In 1924, the club hired A.W. Tillinghast to expand the golf course. At Tillinghast’s direction, the club purchased an additional 50 acres of adjacent land which was ultimately redesigned by Seth Raynor to add approximately 1,000 yards in length. Raynor passed away before the course was completed, so Charles Banks finished the project. The present-day course will play 6,552 yards from the championship tees.  Knollwood’s 18th hole has been named to Met Golfer’s “Dream 18” as one of the finest holes in the greater New York area. The current 9th green remains from Van Etten’s earliest course.

Knollwood Country Club is a Troon Privé-managed club. Members of Troon Privé-managed clubs have exclusive access to extraordinary golf and lifestyle benefits around the world.
