16 Tour players boost Silo Ridge Pro-Am

Event to benefit North East Community Center & Discovery Land Company Foundation

AMENIA, New York – More than a dozen current and former PGA TOUR players participated in the Second Annual Silo Ridge Pro-Am at Silo Ridge Field Club in Amenia, New York on Monday, August 28th.  The event helped raise funds for Discovery Land Company Foundation and the North East Community Center in Millerton, NY.

Among those who participated were the previous Sunday’s winner, 2017 Northern Trust Champion Dustin Johnson, as well as recent Major Champions Jordan Speith (2017 British Open) and Justin Thomas (2017 PGA Championship).  The field also included 2017 Honda Classic Champion Rickie Fowler. Other current and former PGA TOUR players who participated included: Colt Knost, Matt Kuchar, Pat Perez, Hudson Swafford, Andrew Magee, Harris English, Brian Gay, Chris Stroud, Chez Reavie, Ben Crane, Scott Brown, and Bud Cauley, as well as former MLB player Mark Teixiera.

“I’m honored that so many of our friends from the PGA TOUR and from our membership base turned out to support this year’s pro-am event,” said Michael Meldman, Chairman and CEO of Discovery Land Company. “Over the years, the Foundation has raised millions of dollars for children’s charities and this would not be possible without the incredible community of people we have at Discovery.  I am grateful for this support and for the opportunity to participate in giving that enhances the communities in which we do business.”

Low professional of the Pro-Am was Rickie Fowler who carded eight birdies during his round and received an engraved Silo Ridge shotgun for the win. Pre-event, Dustin Johnson, Ben Crane, Rickie Fowler and Jordan Speith had a good-natured competition hitting golf balls towards a truck lined with Casamigos tequila bottles. This “shootout” was won by Speith who upended the most bottles.

Silo Ridge is comprised of more than 800 acres and 245 residential properties. In addition to an outstanding Tom Fazio-designed golf course, the private club and community include an on-site golf house restaurant, organic farm, lakeside activities, and Discovery Land Company’s signature Outdoor Pursuits programming. Members also have access to activities ranging from horseback riding, wine tasting, cooking classes, snow skiing, hiking, biking or camping in the surrounding preserved wildlife corridors.
