(LONDONDERRY, NH) – ECCO – a leading manufacturer of innovative footwear – confirms that ambassador Fred Couples claimed the 13th PGA TOUR Champions title of his career on Sunday, wearing the Danish company’s famed BIOM HYBRID CLASSIC design en route to a two shot victory at the American Family Insurance Championship.
Competing in the company’s multi-award-winning shoe, the 57-year-old World Golf Hall-of-Famer shot a bogey-free 66 on Sunday to finish at 15-under-par for the tournament.
"I am thrilled that I hit the ball very, very well today," said Couples. “When you're off, you kind of get excited to play. You all know, you just get back out there and you play."
The two shot victory at University Ridge Golf Club in Madison, Wisconsin is Couples’ second PGA TOUR Champions win of the year, and takes him to number three in the Charles Schwab Cup standings.
“We’re always thrilled when Fred is able to add another title to his already impressive résumé,” said Jesper Thuen, Head of Asia-Pacific and sponsorship at ECCO Golf. “After nearly two months off, he really showed no signs of competitive rust at all this week, and it’s great to see him back in the winner’s circle already.”
