WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 27, 2017) – Colonial Williamsburg, the premier hospitality destination in Virginia, has been honored by Golf Digest with a 2017 Editors’ Choice Award in the “Best Golf Resorts in the Mid-Atlantic” category. The distinction will be published in the May issue of the magazine, and is available now online. Launched last year, this annual award identifies the “Best Things in Golf,” with an emphasis on lifestyle properties, products, and services.
Colonial Williamsburg is one of only six premier Mid-Atlantic destinations selected and was described by the publication as “not just a destination but an experience in history with lodging interwoven in the Revolutionary City.” This is the second year Colonial Williamsburg has been awarded with this accolade. The editors determine winners of the Golf Digest Editors’ Choice Awards after compiling information and advice from industry and golf technology experts.
“We are honored, for the second year in a row, that Golf Digest has recognized Colonial Williamsburg and we look forward to continuing to share our legacy of history and luxury hospitality,” said Director of Golf and Recreation of Colonial Williamsburg Glen Byrnes.
In keeping with the outstanding service and devotion to excellent golf as indicated by the awards, the Golden Horseshoe Gold Course will debut on July 1 following a multi-million dollar renovation of all greens, fairways, roughs, and bunkers. Along with the Gold Course, the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club also boasts the Green Course and the 9-hole Spotswood short course, providing guests three very different playing experiences.
Colonial Williamsburg offers visitors a choice of six unique lodging accommodations to match each guest’s taste and budget, including an upgraded luxury experience at the Williamsburg Inn, now open following a multi-million dollar redesign. The resort highlights world-class amenities including the premier Spa of Colonial Williamsburg, which will celebrate its 10-year anniversary with newly enhanced facilities this July. An array of exceptional dining options is available, from historic taverns to contemporary experiences featuring Sweet Tea & Barley’s creative Southern cuisine at the Williamsburg Lodge and the soon-to-come Rockefeller Room at the Williamsburg Inn, featuring contemporary fine dining.
