Less than 48 hours before the final round, Olson's father-in-law died unexpectedly

Amy Olson sank a birdie putt on the 18th hole of the final round, pumped her right fist in the air, and raised her head toward the sky. As tears rolled down her cheeks, she closed her eyes and paused to reflect on what will most likely be the most difficult tournament of her life.

A little less than 48 hours before the final round, as Olson contended for her first career victory since turning pro in 2013, her father-in-law, Lee Olson, passed away unexpectedly.

"Coming out this morning, I had no idea what to expect," said Olson after her round Monday. "I felt very weak and helpless the last couple of days. ...I really believe the Lord just carried me through. It makes you realize how much bigger life is than golf."

When asked about her father-in-law in her post-round news conference, Olson said that they shared a "special relationship" and that he had a "particular soft spot for the women in his life, particularly his wife and daughter-in-law."

Finishing at 2 under, Olson tied for second in the 147th start of her LPGA career. She didn't win, but she also didn't lose. "I knew I had to stay very mentally disciplined just to get through the day," Olson said in the post-round news conference. "I allowed myself to think about what I'm grateful for, and I've got a long list."

Amy Olson displayed resilience in the face of a heartbreaking loss and showed us how important it is to surge ahead no matter how dark it seems, which is something so many of us need right now, more than ever.

“First, we’d like to pass along our sincere condolences to Amy and her family for their loss,” said Eddie Rowland, Co-Founder of Nexbelt. “We’d also like to let her know just how proud we are of the strength and fortitude she displayed on the golf course this past weekend. Amy is an amazing woman and we’re honored to have her as one of our Tour Ambassadors. “

Company Founders, Tom Hunsucker, and Eddie and Francis Rowland started Nexbelt in 2010 with a vision to reinvent the way Americans buy, sell and wear their belts. Tired of the old outdated pin/buckle system, they set their sights on creating a belt that would be both adjustable and highly fashionable at the same time. Out of this passion, Nexbelt, "The Belt With No Holes" was born.
