ORLANDO, Fla., (Oct. 21, 2020) – The PGA TOUR is in Southern California, as Tiger Woods defends his 2019 title at the ZOZO Championship. Woods won the inaugural event last year in Japan, but this week’s tournament was moved to Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif., due to COVID-19. Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa join Woods in headlining the field. Danielle Kang leads the field at the LPGA Drive on Championship – Reynolds Lake Oconee in Georgia, with live coverage airing Thursday-Sunday on GOLF Channel. The European Tour hosts the Italian Open, as Bernd Wiesberger, Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood lead the field. Next Monday through Wednesday, GOLF Channel will carry live coverage of the sixth annual East Lake Cup presented by ZipRecruiter and Uber Eats, featuring an elite field of eight collegiate teams convening in Atlanta.

Broadcast Notes:
Coverage: GOLF Channel will carry live tournament coverage from East Lake Golf Club from 3-6 p.m. each day (Monday-Wednesday). The network additionally will preview coverage each day from 2-3 p.m. ET with a special College Central show leading into the live tournament telecast.

East Lake Cup field: The event traditionally reconvenes the semifinal teams from both the women’s and men’s NCAA golf championships from earlier in the year. As a result of the 2020 NCAA Championship being canceled, the field will include the top-four ranked women’s and men’s golf programs (competing this fall), based on the final Golfstat rankings published on March 19. The women’s side will feature Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Texas, while the men’s field will include Oklahoma, Pepperdine, Texas and Texas Tech.

Sixth annual East Lake Cup: This year marks the sixth edition of the East Lake Cup, which has become an annual staple on college golf’s fall calendar. The event is being contested without spectators.

Event format: The event format is modeled after the NCAA Championship, with the first day of competition utilizing a stroke-play format to determine seeding for match play competition on Tuesday-Wednesday. Tuesday will consist of semifinal matches across both the men’s and women’s divisions, and Wednesday will include championship and consolation matches.
