GLN cites recent study of prospective member buying trends
(NAPLES, Fla.) – Golf Life Navigators (GLN) – the world’s only virtual marketplace for consumer-to-club connections – has found more buyers plan to combine their search of a private club membership with a sunbelt home in 2020-21.
In a recent study of prospective member buying trends, GLN officials discovered a 10% increase of buyer demand to include a home search alongside a club search in 2020 – up from 59% in 2019. Furthermore, buyers say it is a 50/50 split on whether the home or the club will lead the decision process. Officials also noted a 5% decrease in projected budget for a home in 2020, dropping from $505,000 in 2019.
“We are not surprised to see buyer sentiment for finding the perfect sunbelt home gain in importance while searching for the perfect golf club,” says Jason Becker, CEO of GLN. “This has been a trend to which we have paid close attention to over the past three years, 2020 has simply accelerated it.”
GLN officials also researched specific sunbelt markets and noted a few vast differences of buyer demand to combine the search of club and home: Naples, FL 61%; Palm Beach, FL 56%; Jacksonville, FL 64%; Scottsdale, AZ 67%; Pinehurst, NC 88%; Hilton Head Island, SC 82%.
“From a real estate perspective, this data is noteworthy for sunbelt brokers and agents,” says Kate Reisinger, Executive Vice President, Member Services, Leading Real Estate Companies of the World. “Heading into 2021, real estate agents should be aware of the dynamics of their local golf communities, as the club membership decision may weigh heavily on home buyers and their overall decision of where to purchase.”
Sample size for the 2020 real estate study consisted of 2,700 golf enthusiasts who are searching the sun-rich markets of the U.S for a golf club and community. Becker noted from the survey: “Buyers have clearly altered their vision of an ideal golf life and are now looking south with a new set of search criteria, lifestyle desires and budget demands.”
