Dustin Johnson will be part of an all-Carolina 3-ball as PGA Tour makes its 1st visit to Congaree Golf Club in South Carolina
Johnson, who was born and raised in Columbia, S.C., and went to college at Coastal Carolina in Conway, will be paired with J.T. Poston, who grew up in Hickory, N.C., and attended Western Carolina, and Kevin Kisner, a lifelong resident of Aiken, S.C. They will tee off at 7:44 a.m. EDT Thursday on the 10th tee at Congaree Golf Club.
An all-England group of Tyrrell Hatton, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Ian Poulter will play at 12:48 p.m. EDT off the first tee.
In the next group, at 12:59 on the first tee, American Brooks Koepka, who will be making his first start since he finished runner-up to Phil Mickelson at the PGA Championship three weeks ago, will be paired with South Carolinian Lucas Glover, who played college golf at Clemson, and Keith Mitchell of the U.S.
The tournament, the final tune-up before next week’s U.S. Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego, was a midseason addition to the PGA Tour's schedule when the RBC Canadian Open was canceled because of travel restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The Palmetto Championship will be the third PGA Tour event to be played in South Carolina this year, all in the coastal Lowcountry, after the RBC Heritage on Hilton Head Island and the PGA Championship on Kiawah Island.
