Justin Thomas, 2020 winner Jon Rahm and Collin Morikawa, who won Workday Charity Open last year at Muirfield Village, lead field
No. 2 Justin Thomas, who lost to fellow American Collin Morikawa last year in a playoff at the inaugural Workday Charity Open, the first of two consecutive events at host Muirfield Village Golf Club, will be the highest-ranked player in the field. He will be joined by Spain’s No. 3 Jon Rahm, the defending champion; Americans Bryson DeChambeau (No. 4), who won the 2018 Memorial, Xander Schauffele (No. 5) and Morikawa (No. 6); plus No. 8 Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland and No. 9 Patrick Reed of the U.S.
Among the sponsor exemptions, Ireland’s Padraig Harrington, the European Ryder Cup captain who tied for fourth at the recent PGA Championship, was entered. Sahith Theegala, who won the 2020 Jack Nicklaus Award as college golf’s top player as a senior at Pepperdine, also was granted a spot. Tyler Strafaci and Joe Long, reigning champions of the U.S. Amateur and British Amateur, respectively, accepted sponsor exemptions for their amateur victories.
