Annual Ryder Cup-style match will pit senior men on U.S., Europe and World teams in 3-day fall event at a site to be determined
Announced: By the PGA Tour, a new Ryder Cup-style match for senior golfers, to debut in 2022, according to a news release. The World Champions Cup will feature six-man teams of professional golfers 50 and older from the U.S., Europe and the rest of the world. The teams will be captained by Jim Furyk (U.S.), Darren Clarke (Europe) and Ernie Els (World). American Peter Jacobsen, a seven-time winner on the PGA Tour and a TV commentator for NBC and Golf Channel, will chair the inaugural event. The dates and site for three-day match-play event, which will be held annually and in the fall, were not disclosed.
