PGA Tour scraps China tour for 2nd year in row

Ongoing concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic prompt cancellation of feeder tour in 2021

Canceled: For a second consecutive year, PGA Tour Series China, a developmental tour run by the PGA Tour, officials announced Friday, citing “obstacles too difficult to overcome” regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The PGA Tour also offered updates on two other feeder tours, in Canada and Latin America. Though Canada has closed its border to non-essential travel because of the pandemic, the Mackenzie Tour will hold six U.S. qualifying events from late February to early March and a seventh in British Columbia, pending a government OK. The Canadian tour, like its counterpart in China, did not play last season. The Latinoamerica Tour is expected to announce its schedule later this month. The developmental tours in China, Canada and Latin America offer pathways onto the Korn Ferry Tour, which feeds into the PGA Tour.
