Charles Barkley and Steph Curry will team against Phil Mickelson and Peyton Manning, Sportico reports, but Tiger Woods is out
Reported: That the third edition of “The Match,” the made-for-TV exhibition that has pitted Tiger Woods against Phil Mickelson, will evolve again this year and include NBA legends Steph Curry and Charles Barkley, according to a report by Sportico, which cited unnamed sources close to the event. Barkley, the basketball hall-of-famer and TV analyst, will join Curry, the star guard for the Golden State Warriors who has made a couple of Korn Ferry Tour cameos, in the match during Thanksgiving weekend, according to Sportico, an online sports business publication. However, Woods will be out. Mickelson will return, with former NFL star Peyton Manning as his partner. Mickelson and Manning teamed in a 1-up victory against Woods and the NFL’s Tom Brady this spring in “The Match: Champions for Charity.” The recent match raised $20 million for coronavirus relief. The third edition will be called “Champions for Change.” No site or beneficiary was disclosed, but the match would be held Friday, Nov. 27, on a holiday weekend when the PGA Tour and other major professional tours are not scheduled to play.
