Announced: By the LPGA and the Ladies European Tour, that the 2023 Solheim Cup will be played at Finca Cortesin, a resort on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, according to a news release Tuesday. It will be the first time for Spain to host the biennial series matching the top female professionals in the U.S. and Europe. Dates were not announced. Finca Cortesin played host to three editions of the European Tour’s Volvo World Match Play Championship, in 2009, 2011 and 2012. The U.S. leads the Solheim Cup series, 10-6, after the Europeans’ one-point victory last year at Gleneagles, Scotland. In 2021, the 17th edition of the Solheim Cup will be played Sept. 4-6 at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
