Dustin Johnson will be paired with Bryson DeChambeau and Tony Finau when 144-man field begins play Thursday at New York club
Tee times for the 120th U.S. Open were announced Tuesday morning by the U.S. Golf Association. Play begins Thursday at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
World No. 1 Dustin Johnson, who won the recent vote among PGA Tour members for player of the year, will be paired with No. 9 Bryson DeChambeau and No. 16 Tony Finau off the No. 1 tee at 1:16 p.m. EDT in a matchup of highly ranked Americans in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Tiger Woods, making his first start since he tied for 51st in the BMW Championship last month, will be paired with No. 3-ranked Justin Thomas, a three-time winner in the 2019-20 season, and No. 5 Collin Morikawa, the winner of the PGA Championship, at 8:07 a.m. on No. 1. At the same time, former major champions Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott and Justin Rose will tee off on the 10th hole.
Defending champion Gary Woodland will play in the traditional pairing with the reigning U.S. Amateur champion, Andy Ogletree, and 2019 British Open winner Shane Lowry, at 1:05 p.m. on No. 1.
The 144-man field will play 18 holes of stroke play in the first two rounds, after which the low 60 scorers and ties will advance to the weekend’s final two rounds. If there is a tie after 72 holes, a two-hole aggregate playoff would follow.
